Release Stuck Emotions with Writing!

When we are feeling an emotion, it is only a part of us that is feeling that emotion.

We are much MORE THAN an emotion.

However, sometimes it can feel like every part of us is feeling that emotion. Because the emotion could be really overwhelming it can feel like we are only the emotion.

During my holistic bodywork training we also learned a technic to release an emotion when we are really stuck and feel overwhelmed by this emotion.

The emotion can feel like a prison and nothing else seems to exists.

It can become our identity.

When we feel an emotion is bigger than us, we can practice the following exercise to get out of the prison that the emotion represents.

First we set a time everyday at the same time to listen to the emotion.

We choose the same time everyday because our UNCONSCIOUS MIND likes habits.

We pick a time when we know we won’t be disturbed.

Secondly, we write whatever comes to mind without censoring ourselves.

We let the emotion completely free to express itself. We listen to what the emotion has to say.

If the emotion arises during the day, outside the scheduled time, we tell it to wait for the designated time.

We honour our commitment by showing up for that appointment.

We do this listening and writing exercise for at least 20 minutes, up to 40 minutes, everyday.

We don’t read our writings; we just burn or destroy the paper once we are done and thank our UNCONSCIOUS MIND.

We can do this exercise for two weeks or for as long we feel overwhelmed by this emotion.

This is going to help express and release the imprisoning emotion.

Liberate Limiting Emotions from the Body

Unexpressed emotions get stored in our body.

Feelings then become the means of thinking.

We start to think equal to those limited emotions.

It can seem impossible to think greater than how we feel.

These emotions become our identity. We become addicted to them!

When I started liberating my body by practicing the movements of this holistic bodywork approach, a lot of emotions were liberated!

Sometimes I would massage my feet and I would start laughing uncontrollably.

But nothing funny was actually happening.

All that was happening was me rolling a tennis ball under my foot.

Another time I would massage my buttocks and my hips.

The following days I would experience a lot of anger.

But nothing in my current reality was upsetting.

Another time still I would lie on my back on the floor with a cushion under my heart. Tears would start running down my face.

But nothing sad was happening to justify this sadness.

I realized that all those years of not expressing my emotions resulted in them being stored is my muscles.

My body had been living in the past, frozen in time.

Liberating all those stuck limiting emotions felt like my body was coming back in the present moment.

I found my body back.

I began to think differently as those limiting emotions were released.

It felt very liberating.

Changing our thinking is what allows us to change a health condition.

Liberating our body from old limiting emotions helps tremendously to think differently.

Traumatic limited emotions we feel repeatedly can trigger a disease like MS over time.

We have the limited emotions associated with survival and stress. These are doubt, fear, anger, hate, insecurity, worry, anxiety, impatience, judgment, resentment, frustration, competition, hostility, sadness, guilt, shame, depression and lust.

Elevated emotions we feel repeatedly can also trigger health over time.

These are gratitude, love, joy, care, compassion, inspiration, appreciation, peace, wholeness, trust, kindness, presence and empowerment.

It is crucial we find a way to release limiting emotions so it becomes easier to think greater than how we feel.

We can then start thinking empowering thoughts and feeling elevated emotions.

The new science of epigenetics tells us we are not victims of our genes.

It is our inner and outer environment that signals which gene will be express.

We can control our inner environment of thoughts and feelings.

We can choose to live in a life giving inner environment.

In doing so we activate health enhancing genes and we stop signaling genes for disease.

How is your inner environment?

You can spend your day loving and praising yourself. You can be grateful for every breath given to you! 💜

No internet connection yesterday! What a mystery?

Emotional Intelligence

Emotions are just energy in motion.

They last less than 90 seconds according to Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. The time it takes for the hormones released by our endocrine system to wash through our body and leave!

I grew up believing expressing my emotions was a sign of weakness.

I would not allow myself to express any anger. I was a good little.

We all heard the limiting beliefs that good girls don’t get mad and boys don’t cry!

I would not allow myself to feel any sadness.

Nothing could get to me. I would never cry.

I would never feel any joy, at least not when I was sober.

I believed there was no reason for joy anyway in this life.

Emotions are life in us. Our emotions flow through us.

When we observe a baby, we can see her experiencing a rainbow of emotions in a very short amount of time. One minute she is so angry. The next minute she is so sad. The next minute she is overjoyed. She is alive!

This is how we were before we got conditioned out of this natural way of being.

Our family, our culture and our society teaches us that emotions are not allowed!

If we look at monks or shamans, we see them expressing their emotions freely just like a child!

Emotions are energy in motion, just like the name implies: e-motion.

Not good, not bad: just energy!

All emotions just pass through us if we allow them.

If we don’t allow them to go through us, if we don’t express them, they will get stored in our body.

This will lower our vibration.

Repeatedly, in the long run, this can trigger an illness like MS!

Then our body will start to live in the past.

We will become the emotion. The emotion will become our identity.

Allowing our emotions to flow through us is an act of self-love.

Allowing Life in us is loving ourselves unconditionally.

What is your relationship with Life in you?

What are your beliefs regarding your emotions? 💜

The Relaxation Response

The autonomic nervous system is part of the nervous system. It is responsible for activating either the sympathetic nervous system or the parasympathetic nervous system.

I sure did not know about this parasympathetic nervous system before I was diagnosed with MS.

I was all about action and stress.

Relaxation was no a part of my world.

I needed illegal drugs or alcohol to relax. They were a part of my daily routine!

The stress response is activated by the sympathetic nervous system when a threat or a danger is perceived. It is a life saving response when we are in a situation of danger and we need to either fight or flight.

In a healthy body, the stress goes down when the danger passes.

The problem arises when we are constantly in a state of stress. Imbalance begins when we are constantly activating the sympathetic nervous system.

We know today that most disease are stress related! All symptoms are made worst when stress is present!

We can activate the stress response by thought alone! We can use our imagination to terrorize ourselves as if a tiger was about to eat us. In reality there is no such threat!

To create balance in a healthy body, we must activate the opposite mechanism: the relaxation response. The parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for the relaxation response.

The parasympathetic nervous system is called the rest, digest and repair mode. It is important to note that it is only in this state that the body does what it does best: heal itself!

“In such a relaxed state, the body can get busy doing what it does best – making effort to heal itself”, Lissa Rankin, M.D., explains in her book “Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof That You Can Heal Yourself”.

This was popularized by Herbert Benson is his famous book from the seventies “The relaxation response”. Dr. Benson teaches that we can elicit the relaxation response by practicing meditation. We can mentally repeat a mantra, a word, a sound, a phrase or a prayer. We do this while passively disregarding everyday thoughts that inevitably come to mind. We also disregard emotions and sensations. We practice with an attitude of non-judgment. We return to our repetition as soon as we notice we got distracted.

This can be done while doing some physical exercise, while doing the dishes, while driving or taking a shower. This can be done while doing any mundane task. We are always thinking. Every moment is an opportunity to control our mind!

It’s not just meditation that shuts off the stress response and calms the body. In her book “Mind Over Medicine”, Dr. Lissa Rankin gives a whole list of other ways to relax! “Creative expression, sexual release, being with people you love, spending time with your spiritual community, doing work that feeds your soul, and other relaxing activities such as laughter, playing with pets, journaling, prayer, napping, yoga, getting a massage, reading, singing, playing a musical instrument, gardening, cooking, tai chi, going for a walk, taking a hot bath, and enjoying nature may also activate your parasympathetic nervous system and allow the body to return to a state of rest so it can go about the business of self-repair.”

Also a breathing exercise with the exhalation longer than the inhalation switches us to the parasympathetic system. We inhale for the count of 3. Then we exhale for the count of 6. We do this at least 3 times.

There are so many ways to promotes a state of relaxation. The importance of relaxation can never be overstated! But health requires balance between stress and relaxation!

Not all Stress is not bad. It depends on how we react to a situation. There is positive stress. It is a natural response or instinct to an alarm signal so we can be alert to what is happening. We can deal with the danger by reorganizing ourselves.

Stress can become negative if we don’t deal with the threat. If we endure a situation for a long time. If we don’t do anything about it. Enduring leads to burnout.

Life also requires balance. Life and health are so similar!

How balanced do you feel you are? 💜

Immune System

“What if my immune system did not try to kill me by destroying my myelin?

What if, instead, my immune system tried to save me from me?”

That was an interesting insight I had at the beginning of my holistic body work training in 2013!

A year or so latter I read this quote in Louise Hay and Ahlea Khadro’s book

“Loving Yourself to Great Health: Thoughts & Food? The Ultimate Diet”:

“Metaphysically, we feel that inflammation and chronic disease are really about your body loving you enough to give you a wake-up call.

It’s an invitation to listen to your body and return to a state of self-love.”

My insight on my immune system saving me from me began to make more sense!

I grew up the first 10 years of my life in Africa.

Sanitary concerns are not an obsession like it is here the western world.

They are a luxury very few can afford.

All my life I had been very rarely sick, having developed such a strong immune system from growing up in a third world country.

Lately I came across the medical concept of the Hygienic hypothesis.

This describes how by trying to eliminate germs, bacteria and such from our environment we also prevent our immune system to develop strong.

It is actually a fact today that poor countries have a lower rate of auto-immune disorder.

So I knew that I did not have a weak immune system!

Actually it is quite the opposite!

When I was diagnosed with MS, I could not believe that suddenly my immune system had turned on me, attacking my nervous system.

I did not know what was happening?

But I could never believe I had a week immune system!

Not after growing up in Africa!

What do you believe about your immune system?

Your belief is what matters!

Our beliefs literally create our reality! 💜

Love yourself ~ Heal yourself

Deep in the heart of our body flows our Life force.

It moves up and down our spine through our energy centers called our Chakras.

Before this diagnosis of MS, I did not know everything is energy.

Thoughts are things. They carry energy.

I did not know I had the power to NOTICE my thoughts.

I did not know I had the power to CHOOSE my thoughts.

Now I know those powers were given to us.

They are our birth rights. They are gifts!

We can NOTICE our thoughts.

We can choose to entertain a disempowering thought.

We can choose to entertain an empowering thought.

We can CHOOSE.

All human beings had a fundamental wound at the beginning of their life.

It is one of the well known wound: abandonment, rejection, non recognition, betrayal, abuse, humiliation, injustice and the obligation to be happy.

This wound is physical and unconscious. It is attached to our Life force.

This fundamental wound creates in us the impulse to die.

Tensions or protections get installed around this fundamental wound.

They make it so we don’t feel the pain of our fundamental wound.

They get installed in layers, one on top on the other.

Anytime we notice a thought or have a feeling that relates to any one of these wounds, we can love and heal ourselves.

We can give our inner child what he or she needs.

*Loving yourself is not abandoning yourself.

Loving yourself is being present to yourself. It is developing a sense of your own presence. It is finding a sense of security within yourself.

*Loving yourself is not rejecting yourself and not judging yourself.

Loving yourself is welcoming and embracing yourself completely as you are. Loving yourself is accepting all the different parts of yourself. It is accepting your strengths and weaknesses.

*Loving yourself is recognizing yourself.

It is recognizing your very own existence. It is acknowledging all that you are, all that you do and all your accomplishments. It is recognizing all of who you are.

*Loving yourself is not betraying yourself.

Loving yourself is being committed to yourself. It is having confidence in yourself and trusting in yourself.

*Loving yourself is not abusing yourself physical or mentally or both.

Loving yourself is being kind to yourself and being gentle with yourself.

*Loving yourself is not humiliating yourself.

Loving yourself is respecting yourself. It is honoring your very nature and your self identity.

*Loving yourself is not being unjust with yourself.

Loving yourself is treating yourself with justice and fairness.

*Loving yourself is not forcing yourself to be happy.

Loving yourself is allowing yourself to feel whatever it is you are feeling in this moment. It is allowing yourself to be yourself.

Can you end the trance and wake up to your powers of NOTICING and CHOOSING?

Can you develop your INNER LOVING PARENTS to heal your INNER CHILD?

All this child needs is your LOVE! 💜

What is holistic bodywork?

This holistic bodywork method is to liberate the tensions from the body and from the mind. I will experience it also liberates stuck emotions from the body.

Physical tensions

The method begins with the practice of physical movements.

The movements gently OPEN, STRETCH and HARMONIZE every 6OO+ muscles in the body.

At first when I practiced the physical movements it was awfully painful!

In the beginning I could not even practice some of them!

I had to visualize!

I could not believe the pain I felt when I gently massaged a muscle!

Over time the pain gradually subsided!

Eventually I would practice the same movements and experience pure pleasure!

We had movements designed to OPEN the muscles.

They allow external energy to come into the body with the use of the movements and the tools used in the movements.

We used tools like a tennis ball, a foam ball, a stick covered with foam, a small cushion, etc.

The movements could be circles with the arms, the legs, rotations of the head, pelvic tilts, leg extensions, explorations of the zero-point (the point with no gravity) with the arm or the leg, side openings, etc.

They also allow the energy located deep in the center of the body to be liberated and come up to the surface of the body.

We had movements designed to STRETCH the muscles.

They always follow an opening movement.

These movements give a direction to the energy just released.

They also allow the energy released to be communicated to the different layers of the body.

The tools used can be the same as for the opening movements.

We had movements designed to HARMONIZE the whole body.

These are equilibrium movements to wrap back up the different muscular layer of the whole body after they have been opened and stretched.

They work at bringing harmony and equilibrium between the left and right sides of the body, between the top and the bottom parts of the body.

They integrate the different hemisphere of the body with the center of the body. They are very soothing.

These require very little tools, if any.

These movements always close a holistic bodywork session.

Every 600+ muscle in my body was visited! Every muscle was visited repeatedly, very gently and slowly, over many years!

Every tension was softened!

This bodywork was like a psychoanalysis of my body.

The body is the unconscious mind.

Practicing bodywork is a time to listen to and liberate the memories and beliefs stored in the body.

The body is a perfect record of the past! Do you know the body does not lie?

It is smarter than us! It is animated with the power of life herself 💜

Physical tensions

Deep in the heart of our body runs our Life force.

It is where our essence resides.

It is where Joy, Love, Creativity, Healing and Light live.

In the heart of our body lie our spiral cord, our intrinsic muscles and our nervous system.

I practiced holistic bodywork intensely for more than 2 years.

I will always practice it as there is no end in freeing myself of the burden of my personality to get in touch with the lightness of my being.

It made me realize I had been living in the prison of my tensed muscles.

My body had been like a cylinder made of concrete!

No life could come in me. No life could come out of me.

MS invited me to free myself!

There are 8 types of tensions according to Marie Lise Labonté.

A tension gets created in our body when our reptilian brain perceives a threat or danger and sends a signal to our muscles to contract.

It is an unconscious process.

It protects us.

Until it imprisons us and eventually can cause discomfort or disease.

The goal of this approach is to soften our tensions.

It is not to get rid of them!

#1 The fundamental tension in the ocular region: the eyes and the skull: the forehead, the nose, the cheeks and the ears.

It begins in our mother’s womb to 2 years old.

#2 The tension of helplessness in the oral and neck regions: the chin, the throat, the occiput, the lips, the jaws, the tongue and the muscles in the deep region of neck.

It gets installed from 2 to 7 years old.

#3 The tension of the poorly loved in the thoracic region: the intercostal muscles, the pectoralis, the deltoids and the arms muscles.

It gets created from 4 to 10 years old.

#4 The tension of protection in the diaphragmatic region: the diaphragm.

It gets installed from 5 to 21 years old.

These four first tensions seal our inner world.

They make us lose contact with our inner world, our identity.

We start to identify with the outer world.

#5-#6 The parental tension and the tension of belonging in the abdominal region: the abdominal, the lateral and back muscles.

This parental tension gets installed from 5 to 18 years old.

This tension of belonging gets installed from 13 to 21 years old.

#7-#8 The narcissistic and social tensions in the pelvic area: most muscles of the pelvis, the hips and the legs.

The narcissistic tension is created from 13 years old.

The social tension comes last from 30 years old.

All this information is based on the work of Marie Lise Labonté.

She was influenced by the vision of Dr Wilhelm Reich, psychiatrist and psychoanalyst and Ida Rolf who created Rolfing.

Miraculous Body!

Our bodies are miracles!

If you don’t believe in miracles, perhaps you have forgotten you were born one!

I sure had forgotten!

For me, my body had always been an inanimate machine designed to get me from point A to point B. Silently please!

I did not know my body could speak.

I did not know my body had the intelligence of LIFE herself!

When I did my holistic bodywork training,

I learned that our bodies have more than 600 muscles.

I learned that our bodies have more than 200 bones.

I learned that our bodies have 11 systems all working in harmony to maintain our homeostasis.

We have our skeletal system, our muscular system, our nervous system, our endocrine system, our cardiovascular system, our lymphatic system (immune system), our respiratory system, our digestive system, our urinary system, our reproductive system and our integumentary system (skin)!

I started to realize that my body is not a machine.

My body is in fact a miracle!

Our bodies are miracles!

All the amazing functions it performs without us even being aware of it!

It is divinely orchestrated! It is intelligent beyond human intelligence!

We could think it is only biology. We could think it all comes from the autonomic nervous system. We could think it only comes from the organs, tissues, cells, molecules, atoms and subatomic particle.

But from a quantum perspective, it is all energy. The same energy that makes up the whole universe! Who animates that energy if not a Loving Intelligence, as Dr. Joe Dispenza reasons?

The training had not officially begun that I was already in a state of amazement for my miraculous body!

Do you know your body is intelligent as it is animated by LIFE herself? 💜
